Everyone Has a Story.
And every story deserves someone willing to listen.
The Story Table began with two friends, a shared love of making things, and years of conversations that turned into a meaningful friendship.
We built a table to celebrate that connection. But we didn't build it just for ourselves.
We built it for you.
For old friends who still have things to discover about one another. For a first date, when two people are just beginning to learn each other's stories. For strangers who might find something in common. For neighbors whose paths cross every day but whose stories have never been shared.
And for those who see the world differently. Who may disagree on important things, but are willing to sit across from one another, listen with curiosity, and discover the person behind the perspective.
Because connection doesn't require agreement. Sometimes it simply begins with understanding.
Whether you're reconnecting with someone you've known for years, meeting someone for the first time, or sitting across from someone whose experiences and beliefs differ from your own, The Story Table is an invitation to slow down, take a seat, and connect.
One table. Two people. Countless stories.
Take a seat at our table. Your story matters.
Every Piece Tells a Story
Look closely at The Story Table, and you'll discover that its design tells a story of its own.
Inspired by Kumiko, a traditional Japanese woodworking art, the tabletop features intricate geometric patterns typically made from individual pieces of wood.
The two arrangements represent the stories of the people sitting across from one another. Each brings a lifetime of experiences to the table. Different beginnings. Different journeys. Different perspectives.
And as the patterns move toward one another, they begin to converge.
Just as our stories do when we share them.
The Pieces of Our Lives
Each individual piece represents a moment in our lives.
Some are filled with blessings. Others carry the weight of loss, disappointment, hardship, or brokenness.
And some parts of our stories remain unfinished.
We often find ourselves focusing on one or the other. Sometimes we see only the blessings. Other times, the brokenness makes it difficult to recognize anything good.
But the pattern reminds us that our lives are made up of all these moments.
Not every piece is beautiful on its own. Not every experience is one we would have chosen.
But every piece can become part of something good.
Where Our Stories Meet
At the center of the design, two separate patterns begin to connect.
Neither loses its identity. Each brings something different to the whole.
That's what we hope happens at The Story Table.
Not that we become the same. Not that we agree about everything. But that through listening, sharing, and understanding, we begin to see how our stories connect.
And perhaps we discover that something good can be made from the pieces we bring to the table.
Two people. Two stories. One connection.
